Like Idea | Make your own Plant + Herb Screen

This could be quite easy to make/build if you have a screen frame
( or make it yourself with timber). Use plastic bottles and fill it with small plants
or even herbs.

Like Idea + Spaces | Around the World - Elle Decoration South Africa

One of my favourite shoots this year by Elle Decoration South Africa, is the Deco-Idea
Article, World Wide Walls. Freckin love the African Doll infront of the China Wall
or the Books on the Argentina Wall. Pretty much cooler than Amelie's Knome. That
thing is just freaky.

Like Idea | Baby Mobiles as Normal Objects - Simple Shapes and Geometries

Baby Mobiles are great looking room additions, as long as its beautiful and simple.
I would like to hang one in my entrance hallway.
A Few  I like :

This Canadian Flock of Birds Mobile:

These Simple Colourful ones by Australian Mobile Online Shop Puka Puka

This wonderful Calder-looking ( is it a calder ?) one

Okay this is just because its a little bit one the sweet side, A Hedgehog family, but still simplistic forms

And really like the spatial impact of this one - mixes matching colours with bigger forms
and becomes a combination of mobile+chandelier+ room-focus point

Like Event | New York City | 21 + 22 OCT | Design Like You Give a Damn : LIVE

" Architecture for Humanity is gearing up for our fall humanitarian design conference in New York City on Oct. 21st and Oct. 22nd. Don't miss this year's Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE! - a practitioners' forum of innovative panel discussions and workshops.
The two-day event brings together designers, architects, philanthropists, media and business representatives under one roof to talk about the collective challenges, goals and lessons learned in humanitarian design and how to move the field forward. A Design Open Mic lets emerging and established designers and architects take the stage to present their projects to an audience hungry to soak up new ideas - the 7 minute presentation format for Design Open Mic keeps the pace rapid-fire and engaging. One-on-one workshops with community development experts ensures participants go away with real lessons learned. (via Dwell) "

If you dont have the book, I strongly recommend it. Check out a South African entry to generate fresh water -  ' Play Pump' ,  - featured in the book

LIKE IDEA | THE UMBRELLAS - CHRISTO + JEANNE-CLAUSE - JAPAN/USE 1984-91

SOME INFO FROM WIKIPEDIA
Christo and Jeanne-Claude prepared for their next project, "The Umbrellas". The plan was to have yellow umbrellas set up in California and blue umbrellas in Japan at the same time. In December 1990, after much preparation, the first steel bases for the umbrellas were installed. At the bases 80 cm long anchors were fastened to the ground to withstand tensions of 1,500 kgf (15 kN). In September 1991 the umbrellas were brought to their places by 2,000 workers. In California, some of the bases were transported to the site by helicopter. The final cost of the project totaled $26 US million. By 7 September, 1,340 blue umbrellas in Ibaraki and 1,760 yellow umbrellas at the Tejon Ranch in southern California had been set up; the exhibition opened on 9 October 1991. In total, 3 million people saw the umbrellas, each measuring 6 meters in height and 8.66 meters in diameter. The umbrellas became a huge tourist attraction, finding use as everything from picnic spots to wedding altars. On 26 October 1991, one of the umbrellas in California was toppled by high winds, killing one woman and injuring several others. The exhibit was ordered closed immediately.[11]

Toffie Food Festival - Cape Town

Last Weekend Cape Town City Hall played host to The President's First
Toffie Food Festival. The Building's orientation and stained glass
windows permitted the most beautiful soft light into the rooms and onto the
objects/food curated by The President to display.
