Like Graphic | Colourful Architectural Plans AJ Cover 28.02.08

People always complain that Architectural Plans are impossible to read.

When I saw this cover I thought, damn pretty candyland, but actually what this colour-usage

does,  is make the plan more legible. Remember those little carpets with roads on that some

boys use to have for playing-cars  - sort of in that line.

Also dig the plain circle dots for trees instead of cad-blocks

Like Place | The Long Room in the Trinity Library Dublin, Ireland.

The old library building was constructed in the 18th Century. Pictured here

is the Long Room, 65m in length.

(found via Thing I Like)

Apparently this room inspired the appearance
of the Jedi Archives in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones

( damn, i would say exact library with just LED's added  - perhaps

a  future-future update for the library anyway )

and on a slightly different note, One of my favourite

library interiors is Asplund's Stockholm Library's Central Rotunda.

Darn cool chandelier!

Like Event | New York City | 21 + 22 OCT | Design Like You Give a Damn : LIVE

" Architecture for Humanity is gearing up for our fall humanitarian design conference in New York City on Oct. 21st and Oct. 22nd. Don't miss this year's Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE! - a practitioners' forum of innovative panel discussions and workshops.

The two-day event brings together designers, architects, philanthropists, media and business representatives under one roof to talk about the collective challenges, goals and lessons learned in humanitarian design and how to move the field forward. A Design Open Mic lets emerging and established designers and architects take the stage to present their projects to an audience hungry to soak up new ideas - the 7 minute presentation format for Design Open Mic keeps the pace rapid-fire and engaging. One-on-one workshops with community development experts ensures participants go away with real lessons learned. (via Dwell) "

Like Idea | Books + Stairs = BookShelf

a pretty cheap and innovative idea, as found in South African

magazine House and Leisure ( way back in November 2006 )

is making your own bookshelves via stacking books on your stairs

and buying maybe a nice piece of pine from Timber-city to suspend

over?.

you also dont need to put books on both sides, but

make sure your shelf doesnt topple over. I made

this little retro graphic quickly to demonstrate.

okay sorry, im going really retro graphique now

( yes i know  photoshop but windows paint is so bloody awesome)

Since You are the one controlling + buying the books

you can also

Control The Colour Scheme

okay, hell - really you could

go crazy with this thing.

( parents with babies might be more restricted...)
